Germany and Iran: No military solution in Syria, extremist groups should be confronted

Germany's German Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs stressed that extremist groups' acts should be confronted

Clemens von Gauze, the German Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, said that his country and Iran agree on rejecting a military solution in Syria because it would only aggravate the suffering of the people.

During his meeting with Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Gauze stressed that extremist groups' acts should be confronted, pointing out that Germany and Iran have adopted joint viewpoints regarding the developments in Syria.

For his part, Boroujerdi said that Iran has stressed since the beginning that inter-Syrian dialogue is the only way out of the crisis in Syria, warning that the military solution will overcomplicate the crisis in the region.

He pointed out that Iran and Germany have many convergent views regarding the importance of combating terrorism and drug trafficking, in addition to holding constant consultations for solving regional crises such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria.
