Abu Omar, a key leader of Jabhat al-Nusra, announced to the Syrian people in Damascus that the group will not interfere in the Syrian state after the fall of the Assad regime. He added that Jabhat al-Nusra does not recognize the National Council or the National Coalition. In an interview with al-Jazeera Net Abu Omar discussed the differences between his group and what is known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

 

Abu Omar clarified that the Jabhat al-Nusra will not interfere with the Syrian state after the fall of the regime, saying "we will be part of the state if it is Islamic, but we will not impose our point of view. Rather, we are teaching people today to choose the good [course] in the future."
