The media office at the Presidential Palace dismissed Sunday a report by the Russian Interfax news agency which attributed quotes to President Bashar Assad as inaccurate and stressed that the president did not give an interview to the agency.
Assad was quoted as telling visitors, days ahead of the Geneva II peace talks, "if we wanted to give up, we would have done so at the very beginning. We are on guard for our country. This issue is not up for discussion."
