Russia Calls on U.N. to Deal Constructively with Draft Resolution

Russia submitted a draft resolution to the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday

Russia  has called on members of the U.N. Security Council to deal constrictively with the draft resolution on the humanitarian situation in Syria it proposed.

Russia submitted a draft resolution to the U.N. Security Council concerning the humanitarian situation in Syria after the council received a western-drafted resolution that was rejected by Moscow and Beijing because it curbs the humanitarian efforts in Syria.

In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the draft resolution presented by a number of countries on 11 February to the U.N. Security Council, holds the Syrian authorities fully responsibility for the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Syria and it did not take into consideration the humanitarian violations committed by the armed opposition.

Russia submitted a draft resolution to the Security Council on the humanitarian situation in Syria a day after the proposal of a similar Western-backed resolution that was rejected by Moscow and Beijing on the grounds that it undermines the humanitarian efforts in Syria.
