Coalition Reiterates Rejection of Extremist Groups

Khalid al-Saleh, president of the Syrian National Coalition's media office, said the Coalition condemns the atrocities perpetrated by the extremist group the Islamic State in Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS).

Yesterday, a chain of mass graves were discovered in areas where ISIS used to hold sway in rural Aleppo, according to Local Coordination Committees. Saleh stressed that "ordinary people in different areas across Syria have been standing up against these groups".

"The Free Syrian Army (FSA) defended civilians against acts of terrorization and restriction of public freedoms carried out by such groups," he said.

Furthermore, Saleh said that "we reiterate the Coalition’s rejection of ISIS and indeed of all extremist groups with ideologies alien to the Syrian people, who in 2011, poured into the streets and called for freedom and democracy."
