Head of Assyrian Organization Faces Terrorism Court

The judge of the third criminal court in the countryside of Damascus has dismissed the case against the head of the political office of the Assyrian organization, Gabriel Kourieh.

A reliable source told All4syria that the judge was moved from the ordinary court to counter-terrorism court. He asked the case of Kourieyh to be transferred to his new court. This has complicated his case and will expose him to a greater sentence.

Kourieh was arrested by security forces in Hassakeh and then referred to the Public Prosecution at the end of February. Investigation judges accused him of disobedience against the Syrian authorities, which carries a penalty of five years in prison.

He was referred to the third criminal court in the countryside of Damascus in April. The trial lasted until the judge was moved and Maymoun Izzeddin occupied the position. A week later, Izzeddine decided to give up the case of Kourieh to the terrorism court, a step that shows his aggressive attitude towards everyone who opposes the regime.
