Syrian Numbers Decline in Jordan’s Hospitals

Lack of refugee health care responsible for a significant drop in hospital attendance in Jordan, claims UNHCR spokesman

Media spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Syria office, Ali Bibi, confirmed that Syrian refugees residing outside of camps in Jordan have no access to health insurance, causing a major drop in their hospital attendance.

Bibi said: "the largest number of Syrian refugees reside outside the camps, where the major responsibility of helping them lies with the international community to complete its role in providing support", according to the Jo 24 Jordanian agency.

Bibi pointed out that the UNHCR is providing simple aid, but a few thousand families residing outside the camps need to obtain funding from other sources to meet their basic needs.

UNICEF representative Samir Badran announced that "sources of funding began to drain, and as there are no solutions in the near future to put an end to Syrian sufferings, the funding sources will reduce significantly".
