Syria Ready to Cooperate with UN Member States on Humanitarian Situation: Jaafari

Syrian government willing to cooperate with all well-intentioned UNSC member states to improve humanitarian situation, says Syrian envoy to the UN

The Syrian government is ready to cooperate with all well-intentioned UN Security Council (UNSC) member states to improve the humanitarian situation in Syria, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari said.

During a UNSC session Monday, Jaafari remarked that the Syrian government is ready to participate in any honest endeavor aiming at reaching a political solution where Syrians can determine their future away from any foreign interference.

He slammed member states’ ignorance of terrorism, which has destabilized and undermined security in Syria, the region and the world, while also condemning the terrorist acts that struck Paris on Friday.

The Syrian government has repeatedly expressed its readiness to cooperate with any country that shows a serious commitment to fighting terrorism, Jaafari said.

Jaafari rejected recent allegations of the Syrian army’s indiscriminate use of weapons against civilians, asserting it behaves the same as other armies of the UN member states according to the international law in the framework of fighting terrorism.
