Assad Appoints Diab as New Aleppo Governor

President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday named Hussein Ahmad Diab as Governor of Aleppo, ending the appointment of Mohammad Marwan Olabi as governor of the province.

Hussein Ahmad Diab was born in 1964 in the Zabadani district of the Damascus Countryside. He graduated from the military academy in 1987 and occupied several posts in Syria’s internal security forces. He is married with five daughters.

Meanwhile, President Assad also amended the decree regarding fees for departing from Syria via airports and border crossings. The new changes set the fees at 5,000 Syrian pounds ($23) airport tax for every individual departing from Syria via a civilian airport, 2,000 pounds for every individual departing via a land or sea, and 10,000 pounds for every Syrian car leaving via a land or shipping port.
