The office of UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said that the diplomat met with Iranian officials to discuss the deteriorating situation in Aleppo.
In a statement on Sunday, the office said that the meetings touched on the cessation of combat activities, the removal of Nusra Front-linked terrorists, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to eastern and western Aleppo.
The office also said that de Mistura continues to call on the international community to convince Syrian sides to return to the negotiations table in Geneva to discuss the political process.
