Lavrov Announces Russia-US Talks on Rebel Withdrawal from Aleppo

Russian and American experts in Geneva are to start work on the formation of an agreement for a total withdrawal of gunmen from Aleppo, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced Monday.

Russia Today website quoted Lavrov as saying that the agreement will call for all gunmen to leave Aleppo. “Any armed group that refuses to leave Aleppo will be treated as terrorists,” the minister said.

He expressed hope that the Russian-American efforts would succeed in ending the current situation in Aleppo, announce a cease-fire and deliver humanitarian aid to civilians.
