The Special Committee on Decolonization (also known as C-24) re-elected Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Bashar al-Jaafari, as its Rapporteur.
Jaafari’s nomination as a Rapporteur of the Committee for 2017 was made during a meeting held on Wednesday at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Permanent Representatives of Venezuela to the United Nations were elected as the Chairman of the Committee and the Permanent Representatives of Cuba, Indonesia, and Sierra Leone as deputies for the Chairman.
