Syria Demands Immediate End to U.S.-Led Coalition Attacks

Foreign ministry says anti-ISIS coalition must end illegal strikes after new attack kills 35 civilians in the eastern countryside
Syria Demands Immediate End to U.S.-Led Coalition Attacks

Syria on Saturday reiterated its calls for an end to the illegal actions carried out by the U.S.-led coalition after its warplanes targeted Mayadin city in the Deir-ez-Zor countryside, claiming the lives of 35 civilians.

In a statement addressed to the U.N., Syria’s Foreign Ministry said that U.S.-led coalition warplanes shelled the southeastern countryside on Friday.

The ministry said that the assault was part of a series of attacks which violated Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity under the pretext of combating terrorism.

The statement highlighted the aggressive nature of the coalition and its support for parties that want only to kill civilians, noting that the alliance recently admitted hundreds of innocent Syrians had been killed in its operations over the past months.
