Syria, Russia Discuss Implementation of Energy Agreements

Ministerial delegation arrives in Russia to address joint contracts aimed at rehabilitating Syria's energy sector, SANA reports

Electricity Minister Mohamad Zuheir Kharboutli met with Russian Deputy Energy Minister Kirill Molodtsov on Tuesday to discuss the implementation of energy sector agreements.

“As being partners in the fight against terrorism, Syria and Russia would be partners in reconstruction of Syria. We have set priorities and scenarios to implement the agreements reached previously in Damascus and Sochi and activate the work of a Russian-Syrian joint committee aimed at rehabilitating and re-operating power plants in the country,” Kharboutli said during the meeting.

For his part, Molodtsov said that the Syrian delegation’s is an important step toward greater cooperation and motivation to solve issues facing the Syrian Ministry of Electricity and the Russian Ministry of Energy.
