Damascus Closes the Final Chapter in Its War on Terrorism

A state of relief and joy prevailed on the streets of Damascus after the al-Hajar al-Aswad area was fully cleansed of terrorism and the announcement that Damascus and the surrounding countryside was entirely safe.

SANA toured Damascus’ streets and interviewed a number of citizens who expressed confidence in the Syrian Arab Army, asking God to have mercy on the souls of the martyrs who had fallen for the sake of the homeland and whose sacrifices paved the way for a brighter and more secure future.

Ahmed al-Shehabi said that this great news gives hope that every inch of the Syrian territory will be liberated from terrorism.

For her part, student Hadeel Abdul Hai from the Department of Mathematics at Damascus University said that she was absolutely delighted with the news, indicating that now she can walk the streets of the city without fear.

Taxi driver Abu Jihad and teacher Fotoun extended their heartfelt greetings and warm felicitations to members of the Syrian Arab Army who devoted their lives and offered their precious blood to keep the nation safe from terrorism.

The liberation of al-Ghouta, al-Hajar al-Aswad and al-Yarmouk Camp is a remarkable achievement with which Damascus and its countryside close the last chapter in the war against terrorism; and the eyes are now focused on cleansing other Syrian areas of terrorism and restoring security and stability to the entire land.
