Syrian, Russian Special Forces Rescue Pilot of Downed Jet

Syrian and Russian special forces carried out night rescue operations deep into enemy lines to retrieve one of the two pilots of the Russian jet downed by the Turkish army on Tuesday, a military source revealed.

The Russian Su-24 aircraft was downed over Syrian territory Tuesday by a Turkish F-16 fighter jet when it was returning from a mission in the northern countryside of Lattakia.

Special forces who carried out the rescue operation returned safely, the source added, stressing that the Russian pilot is in good health.
