Petroleum Minister Suleiman Abbas met on Sunday with his Iranian counterpart Rustom Kasimi to discuss the implementation of a series of agreements on petroleum and gas.
The meeting was attended by the Governor of Central Bank of Syria, Adib Mayyaleh along with Syria's Ambassador in Tehran, Adnan Mahmoud. They discussed petroleum and gas imports from Iran via an extended credit line as well as other means to overcome economic sanctions as part of the war being waged on the Syrian people.
The Iranians confirmed their readiness to support Syria and provide its petroleum needs, emphasizing that the escalation of the economic war will not undermine the Syrian people's determination to combat terrorism.
Abbas said that the Syrian-Iranian agreements will have a positive effect on living conditions of the Syrian people.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the two parties also signed an agreement on transport of Iranian gas to Syria via Iraq.
