President Bashar Assad said on Sunday that Syria is capable of confronting any external aggression, having already faced daily internal aggression by armed terrorist groups operating in the country.
He praised the steadfastness of the Syrian people and their support for the army.
Assad was speaking during a meeting with the Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee of the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
Assad said that Syria is achieving one victory after another until security and stability has been restored to the homeland.
The two parties discussed the regional situation in the region and the latest developments, including U.S. threats of a military strike against Syria.
Assad said that the U.S. threats will not discourage Syria's commitment to combat a terrorism campaign that is backed by regional and Western countries, especially the U.S.
