The Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) First Executive Council & Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs Meetings commenced in Tehran on Monday with the participation of a Syrian Parliamentary delegation, headed by the Chairman of the Agriculture and Water Resources Committee, Adnan Suleiman.
The meetings will discuss cultural and social situations as well as counterterrorism efforts.
In a statement on Monday, Suleiman said Syria’s delegation will focus on the necessity of combating terrorism and unifying the efforts of Arab, regional and international parliaments.
He reiterated that Syria has suffered from terrorism, backed by the US, Israel and their regional allies, yet the steadfastness of the Syrian people, army and leadership has thwarted conspiracies targeting the country thanks to the support of Syria’s friends, particularly Russia and Iran.
