South Syria Rebels Sign Defence Treaty to Fight ISIS, Regime

A number of military formations from the southern front have signed a defense treaty in an attempt to unite in the face of looming battles.

Ibrahim al-Jebawi, the manager of the Syrian Media Organisation, the official representative of the Southern Front, told Zaman al-Wasl that the treaty was important to form united visions and goals, giving priority to the revolution and the country.

Jebawi confessed that the treaty targets the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) as much as the Syrian regime and others, as the risk of ISIS extending into Daraa has increased.

Military groups confirmed their determination to increase cooperation and solidarity, forming military courts and reconciliation committees.

The treaty threatened the dismissal of any military formation which rejected or failed to abide by the statement.

The signed treaty confirmed the need for enhancing the stability, security and confidence among people under the front's control, and gives them the trust of having a strong united power considered a stepping stone for a new Syrian army.
