Strikes by Russian air forces killed more than 200 Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists and destroyed a convoy of 20 cars and armored vehicles heading for Deir-ez-Zor city, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.
In a statement, the ministry said that Russian warplanes carried out airstrikes against an ISIS convoy on its way to the eastern city, where terrorists are trying to regroup and set up their last base in Syria.
Having suffered heavy losses to the Syrian army in the provinces of Raqqa and Homs, ISIS forces are now trying to make their last stand in Deir-ez-Zor, the ministry noted.
