Member of the politburo of the Syrian National Coalition, Ahmed Ramadan said Tuesday that the group "does not find it necessary to attend the tripartite meeting in Geneva today, in spite of receiving an invitation."
In a press statement, Ramadan said that "the position of the opposition became clear, especially for Americans, and therefore there is no need to attend these procedural consultations."
Participants in the conference include the Special Representative of the Russian President in the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov. The U.S. delegation, meanwhile, will be headed by Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, and the other member states of the U.N. Security Council will join the tripartite consultation. The delegations from the neighboring countries of Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Turkey, as the civil representatives from Syria crisis will then be examined.
