Syrian regime forces on Sunday made gains in the eastern countryside of Daraa, siezing control of three hills and a district close to the military airport, a field source told Zaman al-Wasl.
Activists said the new advances near the Jordanian border have alarmed rebels in the area, as the regime’s army can now easily strike their strongholds on the eastern front.
The Syrian army took control of Tal Hajer, Tal al-Sheikh Hussein, Mazraet al-Kuwaiti and the neighboring district of al-Thaaleh military airport near the Druze-dominated province of Suweida.
ِRegime air strikes also pounded the towns of al-Msaifra, al-Tiba, al-Karak and Om Walad in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
