More than 130,000 Syrian refugees fleeing the Islamic State have crossed into Turkish territory since Friday, Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said on Monday.
Anadolu News Agency quoted Kurtulmus as saying that "the refugees are being registered one by one at two main points of entrance on the border, in a much more organized way than it was on Saturday."
Kurtulmus added that the officials are reuniting most people with their families in Turkey, and transferring some of them to other places in the region.
"There is no need to worry as they are all under control," he said.
"Turkish aid to the Middle East has reached $4 billion and Turkey ranks third in the the world in overall aid provided to the region," he added.
Turkey opened the border Friday to cope with a rush of Kurdish civilians fearing an attack on the Syrian border town of Ain al-Arab, known as Kobani in Kurdish.
The Syrian civilians seeking shelter from the IS assault on Kobani are being registered at the office of admission set up by Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Presidency immediately upon their entry toTurkey.
