Russian warplanes carried out an air raid on a medical point in the town of Khan Touman in the southern Aleppo countryside Tuesday night, killing five people and injuring a number of others, most of them from the emergency response team.
Alsouria Net’s correspondent in Aleppo, Mohamed al-Shafei, said that the raid struck a medical center for “the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations (UOSSM) which caused the deaths of five people from the organization.”
The Russian warplanes on Monday struck a joint humanitarian aid convoy between the United Nations and the Syrian Red Crescent and the International Committee of the Red Cross in northern Syria, which killed 12 volunteers and a driver at least.
In another context, Assad regime warplanes struck the town of Khan Sheikhoun in the Idleb countryside with vacuum bombs, resulting in dead and wounded, while the toll of casualties has not been issued yet.
According to local sources speaking to Alsouria Net inside the town, civil defense teams and emergency organizations had begun to pull out people trapped under the rubble and to treat the wounded amid a state of panic among residents.
The sources said that “rockets fired by the warplane had a large explosive capacity and led to large material damage in residential buildings.”
These raids come after the end of the truce period in Syria on Monday which had been agreed between the United States and Russia.
The International Syria Support Group on Tuesday had called for “the need to reach a cessation of hostilities,” based on arrangements reached between both the United States and Russia last week in Geneva.
