Delegates from the United Nations and the Syrian regime met with Islamic State (ISIS) commanders in a southern district of Damascus to seal an agreement allowing fighters of the radical group to leave the capital toward the Syrian desert, well-informed sources said Wednesday.
The long-awaited deal will expel all rebels and jihadists from the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp and Al-Hajar al-Aswad south of Damascus.
About 2,000 ISIS fighters and their families aim to head the Syrian desert, also known as the Badia region, despite the recent clashes with U.S.-backed forces along the border near Al-Tanf.
