ISIS Fighters Seize Two Rebel-Held Towns in North Aleppo

Islamic State (ISIS) fighters on Wednesday took control of two towns in the northern countryside of Aleppo after a surprise attack on rebel bastions, a local reporter said.

Late on Tuesday, militants of the radical Islamist group launched a surprise attack on the towns of Kafra and Sundaft in the northern countryside, pushing rebels to withdraw.

The new territory captured by ISIS is situated in the Turkish-planned buffer zone in Syria’s north.

Rebel commander Abu Muntasir told Zaman al-Wasl that rebels of the northern countryside of Aleppo are facing exhaustion after months of fighting ISIS.

Abu Muntasir has also accused Russian airstrikes of enhancing ISIS advances in the war-torn province.
