Iran Supports Political Solution, Rejects Foreign Intervention in Syria

Advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Iranian Revolution , Ali Akbar Velayati, stressed on Monday that Syria's people and government represent a steadfast citadel in face of Zionism, adding that the current events are aimed at weakening the resistance in the region.

In a statement to journalists, Velayati reiterated his country's firm stance on the crisis in Syria which is based on the fact that only the Syrian people can decide their destiny, adding that the western countries are currently in a state of desperation as they have failed so far to achieve any progress in Syria.

He condemned giving Syria's seat at the Arab League to "the Doha Coalition," pointing out that this move violates the international laws.

Salehi Calls upon Kazakhstan to Condemn Terrorists' Launching Chemical Missile in Aleppo

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi reiterated condemnation of launching a missile that contains chemical material by the armed terrorist groups in Khan al-Asal in Aleppo on 19th of last March, which claimed the lives of dozens of innocent people.

In a letter directed to his Kazakhstani counterpart Erlan Idrisov, delivered by the Iranian Ambassador in Astana, Salehi called for condemning this heinous crime and exerting efforts to prevent its reoccurrence, in addition to opening neutral investigations regarding supplying terrorists with money and weapons.

The Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the necessity of applying all the items of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) in an effective way by the signing countries.

Abdullahian said that giving Syria's seat in the Arab League to the Doha coalition was a strategic mistake, an opinion which Iran voiced to UN Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Ibrahimi and the League's General Secretary Nabil al-Arabi, affirming that this step is a dangerous precedent that could be used against other countries in the future, adding that such a step is politically without value as it's merely a propaganda act.

He stressed that Iran along with other sides will not permit giving Syria's seat in international forums like the UN to unknowns.

Abdullahian also rejected accusations that Iran is sending weapons to Syria; rather it sends humanitarian aid and food, refuting allegations that Iran is interfering in Arab countries' affairs, especially since these allegations come from sides that are clearly interfering in Syria's affairs by arming terrorist groups.
