The European Union is lacking credibility with its comments about the humanitarian situation in Syria, the Syrian Foreign Ministry affirmed, adding its persistence in following the policies of some of its hardline members like France deprives it of any positive role in the region and the world.
An official Foreign Ministry source said that Syria rejected the statement issued by EU foreign ministers, adding that Damascus believes that members’ efforts to misguide public opinion and twist facts is unbecoming of some EU states.
The source added that EU statements should have been in line with its claims about fighting terrorism and with international law instead of defending terrorist groups and shedding crocodile tears over the suffering of civilians in Aleppo, at a time when the Syrian army and its allies are working to save civilians and return security, stability, and normal life to Aleppo.
The source asserted that the EU lacks the least bit of credibility when talking about the humanitarian situation in Syria because it is partner to Syrians' suffering due to its support for terrorism and the sanctions it imposed on Syrian citizens.
