China to Take Part in Second Vienna Talks on Syria

China will take part in the next round of Syria talks between world powers scheduled for November 14, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a press briefing on Monday.

“The second broad ministerial meeting on Syria will take place in Vienna on November 14. China will take part in the meeting to facilitate the political resolution of the Syrian problem,” he said.

A four-party meeting took place on October 29 in Vienna between Russia, the US, Saudi Arabia and Turkey aimed at resolving the Syrian crisis. The next day, the talks were joined by top diplomats from 17 other countries, including Iran, as well as envoys from the United Nations and European Union.
