According to the statement, the German International Police will take over the process of identifying victims, taking into account the scientific and professional conditions, as a priority, a humanitarian necessity, and a step towards justice.

The researchers invited the families of the victims to contact the person in charge of the massacre file at the German International Police, Martin Crocker, in Arabic, English, or German, at the following email: (martin.kroeger@bka.bund.de

The researchers also offered condolences to the families of the victims of the massacre, and to the victims of the Syrian war in general. They also wished them patience for the loss of their families.

The statement coincides with news that the Syrian regime has detained the main perpetrator of the massacre. In a statement published on May 30, the Syrian Network for Human Rights said: “The Syrian regime is detaining the criminal Amjad Youssef, who executed dozens of Syrians and raped dozens of women in the Tadamon neighbourhood of Damascus.”
