The Syrian Cabinet on Tuesday discussed a number of issues pertaining to the economy, services, and living conditions.

 

Prime Minister Wael al-Halki addressed the drop in performance in the services sector, particularly water, electricity, and gas.

 

Halki stressed the need for all state establishments and bodies to take necessary steps to improve sector performance and overcome all difficulties, reviewing the steps taken by the government so far in addressing these issues. He said the shortages of gas and heating fuel will be resolved gradually.

 

Halki also said that there has been an escalation in the media war targeting Syria via certain websites and social networking sites which publish incorrect information, stressing the need for national media to expose those lies and hold those who publish them accountable.

 

Deputy Prime Minister and Local Administration Minister Omar Ghalawanji reviewed the state of services sector, underlining the efforts being made to improve the transportation, drinking water, and fuel sector, saying that there has been a gradual improvement in the performance of the electricity sector.

 

The Cabinet also discussed a number of bills and issues pertaining to loans, restructuring the reconstruction committee, and real estate.
