Moscow’s position on Syria has not changed and will not change, affirmed Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov on Tuesday.
“Russia’s stance isn’t changeable according to circumstances, and we are committed to all agreements and statements, including the Geneva Communique issued in June 30, 2012,” Bogdanov said following a meeting with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdullahian.
“Our position on Syria has not changed, and we see it necessary to hold dialogue between the government and the opposition at the negotiating table to determine the future of Syria in a way that would maintain the interests of everybody,” he added.
Bogdanov announced that a tripartite meeting between the deputy foreign ministers of Syria, Russia and Iran would be held in Tehran to discuss the latest developments in Syria, noting that he is in constant contact with Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad.
