Bab al-Hawa Border Crossing Closed

The Bab al-Hawa border crossing on the Syrian-Turkish border was closed from the Syrian side on Sunday afternoon following clashes between fighters of the Islamic Front and Hazm Movement.

An informed source in the countryside of Edlib confirmed to Orient Net that "clashes between the Hazm Movement and Ahrar ash-Sham took place at the Bab al-Hawa border crossing after a disagreement related to organizing the crossing."

"The fight is still going on, which led to stopping the movement of passengers to and from Syria," the source said.

The source added that a number of fighters from both sides were wounded during the clashes that took place after Hazm set up a checkpoint on the road between Atareb and Bab al-Hawa to arrest the fighters from Ahrar ash-Sham.

The reason for the disagreement between the two parties goes back to a demand raised by Hazm to establish common checkpoints at the crossing. Hazm then brought reinforcements to the crossing in an attempt to storm it, while some of its fighters gave up their arms to the Ahrar fighters inside the crossing.
