Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Wednesday that the war waged by terrorists on Syria undermines Arab identity and culture by disseminating anti-Arab extremist ideologies.
Assad's remarks came during a meeting with a delegation of the Popular Front, a Tunisian alliance of national parties.
The president highlighted the important role that political parties and popular organizations could play in confronting this intellectual and cultural war by looking into the reasons that have caused the decline of Arab countries and formulating a progressive pan-Arab project through party and social dialog.
For their part, members of the Tunisian delegation stressed that Syria is being targeted in this ferocious and unprecedented way because it is the last stronghold of the resistance against Western and Zionist projects, and also because of its commitment to Arab nationalism.
It also expressed its solidarity with Syria and its people and the delegation's appreciation of the extraordinary resilience the Syrians have shown in the face of the terrorist war against them.
