American Agency Spied on Syrian Opposition for Arab Govts

Arab countries contracted an American agency to collect intelligence on Syrian opposition figures, including personal data, loyalties and relationships with jihadist movements, Zaman al-Wasl has heard.

Zaman al-Wasl obtained a copy of a report forwarded to an Arabic country from Flashpoint Partners agency in regard to Nasr al-Hariri, member of the opposition and the former General Secretary of the Syrian National Coalition.

Flashpoint Partners identifies itself as electronic tracking experts on activities of jihadis online, routinely providing US Congress and courts with evidence.

The agency, run by academics and IT experts, specializes in skimming and extracting information from the Dark Web, a space inside the web that is unreachable by ordinary search engines.

The agency is renowned for its Islamophobia despite working for, and having close ties with, many Arab countries.

Most alarmingly, the report compiled by Flashpoint Partners claims Nasr al-Hariri avoided a death penalty charge, only to serve seven years in prison.
