Aggression Against Syria Will Affect Zionist Entity: Boroujerdi

Parties inciting aggression against Syria are retreating, Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Tuesday, also warning that any aggression would inflame the whole region.

Boroujerdi is in Lebanon for talks with a number of Lebanese officials to discuss the situation in Lebanon amid U.S. threats of a strike against Syria.

In a press statement following a meeting with Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, Boroujerdi expressed Iran's deep concern over the U.S. threats and stressed that all parties unify efforts to prevent a military attack against Syria.

During a meeting with Lebanese Caretaker Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Adnan Mansour, he warned that any foreign military aggression against Syria will be the beginning of the outbreak of a dangerous crisis in the Middle East.

He said that the first party to experience the impact of such a crisis will be the Zionist entity.

Boroujerdi refuted allegations made by the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who said the U.S. had obtained an intercepted phone call between two military officials in Syria discussing chemical weapons use, adding that it is not surprising that the intelligence services would  fabricate such evidence.

He revealed that Iran had sent an official document to the U.S. including information that provides conclusive evidence that the armed groups in Syria have obtained chemical weapons.

Boroujerdi met with the Secretary General of Lebanon's Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah on Monday night and discussed developments in the region.

A statement issued by Hezbollah's media relations unit said discussions during the meeting, which was also attended by the Iranian Ambassador in Beirut, touched upon the developments taking place in the region, particularly in Syria and Lebanon.
