Russia has denied discussion of a Syrian Military Council, a proposed joint military council that would include armed factions and defectors from the regime.
On Tuesday, Putin’s special envoy on Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, told Russia Today on the sidelines of the 15th round of Astana that there are no talks regarding the Military Council in Syria.
According to Lavrentiev, the talk about Russia’s involvement in forming a Military Council is “deliberate misinformation aimed at undermining the talks and the political process of Syria.”
