Mikdad to the Kurdish Militias: We Will Resolve Our Problems Positively

Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad has said that the Kurds were always going to get tossed aside by foreign powers reports Al-Watan.

Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad said that, “whoever throws himself into the arms of the foreigner will be tossed out with disgust—and this is what happened” to the Kurdish militias that allied with the American occupation, who have given a green light to the Turkish occupation to carry out an attack on the areas the Kurds control. He said that, “Syria will defend all its territory and will not accept any occupation.” He said that, “the nation welcomes all its people and Damascus will resolve all Syrian problems in a positive manner, removed from violence, and will maintain every grain of dust of Syrian territory.”

In the first official Syrian statement on the US withdrawal from northern Syria and Washington abandoning the Kurdish militias, Mikdad told Al-Watan: “We will go back again and tell them [the Kurds] that they have lost everything and they should not lose themselves. In the end, the nation welcomes all its people and we want to resolve all Syrian problems in a positive manner, removed from violence.”

Regarding the reason for the American withdrawal, Mikdad said: “I believe that the Americans are now being defeated everywhere in the world—their plans, whether in the Gulf or in Africa or Asia or in their fight with Russia and with China, are failing. This racist position, which does not accord with international legitimacy or with the United Nations charter has no future. This is a matter for the American people to decide.”

Regarding the Syrian state’s position if Turkey carried out any aggression against the country’s territory, Mikdad said: “We will defend all Syrian territory, and we will not accept the occupation of any part of Syria. But others in this respect should not throw themselves into destruction, because we are ready to defend our territory and our people,” in a reference to Syria’s Kurds.
