China Demands U.S. Accountability for Stealing Syrian Oil

China has called for the United States to be held accountable for its continued theft of Syrian oil, describing it as banditry that contributes to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Syria.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a press conference yesterday, according to Xinhua: “The level of greed of the United States in stealing resources from Syria is shocking, and it must be held accountable.” Wang noted the need for answers from Washington about this blatant and terrible American act of stealing Syrian oil.

Wang also called on the U.S. administration to stop violating the rule of international law.

The US occupation forces systematically steal Syrian oil from the Syrian Al-Jazeera region. On an almost daily basis, dozens of tankers exit through illegal crossings with Iraq.

A few days ago, local sources in the countryside of Hasakeh governorate told the official SANA news agency that “US occupation forces took out tankers filled with oil that they stole from rural Hasakeh, from where they headed to northern Iraq through the illegal Mahmoudiya crossing.”
