The head of the interim government, Mr. Ghassan Hitto, began a series of consultations to form his government and attract the qualified talent and competencies required manage the upcoming phase of the revolution. A group of committees were tasked with attracting experienced and competent Syrians inside and outside of Syria to work within the newly formed governmental ministries.
The interim government is the executive authority that will extend its authority over all national Syrian territory, and will consist of eleven ministries, which are:
Ministry of Defense
Ministry of Interior and Civil Affairs
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Ministry of Local Administration
Ministry of Economy and Public Resources
Ministry of Education
Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources
Ministry of Health Affairs
Ministry of Infrastructure, Transportation and Communication
Ministry of Relief, the Displaced, and the Refugees
Ministry of Justice
The following standards will be used during selection process:
The nominee must be of Syrian citizenship
The nominee must be 35 years or older for ministers and their deputies
The nominee can not be a pillar of the current regime, or has committed crimes against the Syrian people, or has unlawfully seized Syrian property or wealth
The nominee must have good conduct and behavior and can not have any convictions
The nominee must be a advocate or supporter of the Syrian Revolution
The nominee must have academic competence and practical experience
The nominee must be able to join the government on a full-time basis
The nominee must be able to work from within the Syrian borders and territory
The nominee must be able to work within a team to achieve the governments overall plan and goals
The nominee must be willing to reveal all their financial information
