Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Wednesday said the national economy is strong and adapting to complications and developments as a result of the current crisis in Syria.
He said a series of government decisions and steps are addressing the economic developments.
Addressing the People's Assembly Halqi said that the Syrian Pound has become the target of unprecedented media and financial attacks by some Arab states, which are attempting to target Syrian businessmen and civilians.
He said the government has taken several steps to boost Syrian confidence in commerce and the Syrian Pound in response to the media and economic war being waged against the country through the spread of rumors.
Halqi noted that in spite of the difficult circumstances, the government has signed seven new contracts for power generation requirements and transport with friendly states, including Iran, India and China.
