Syrian National Coalition President Khaled Khoja has emphasized the role of Local Coordinating Councils in rebel-held areas at a press conference in Turkey, claiming the coalition has no intention to dissolve the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) in light of recent financial and leadership concerns.
Meeting with Syrian media activists and journalists at the SIG headquarters in the Turkish city of Gaziantep on Saturday, Khoja highlighted the outcomes of current talks between the internal opposition group and the National Coordination Body.
In response to a question regarding the intention to replace the interim government with local offices linked directly to the National Coalition, Khoja said, "we can not predict the future," claiming the coalition’s political program does not include such a plan.
