The President of Lebanon’s Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, said "thousands of Iranian Revolutionary Guards have arrived at Suweida in the south of Syria".
Jumblatt, the most prominent Lebanese Druze leader, wrote on his official Twitter account that he is "worried about the fate of the Arab Druze in the region, and the fate of the customs and traditions of this authentic Arab region".
Jumblatt, a fierce political opponent of Assad's regime, added that it "became clear that Assad's regime would have fallen long ago if Iran had not intervened". Jumblatt commented sarcastically on the Iranians arrival in Suweida: " the people of Suweida welcome their guests by saying: Ya Haiyallah (welcome), tomorrow – as a result of mixing with the Persians (Iranians) – they would turn it to: Khosh Amed".
