Moscow Hits Back at Atlantic Council for ‘False’ Report on Assad War Crimes in Aleppo

The Russian Defense Ministry has refuted a report by a major US think tank on human rights violations by the Syrian government during the liberation of eastern Aleppo, rejecting the information as false.

“We’ve closely studied the Atlantic Council’s report devoted to the Syrian army’s operation to retake Aleppo to find nothing new. All of the charges and propaganda fakes mentioned there have long been dismissed. Moreover, those allegations were dismissed twice – by facts presented at our briefings and by real life – testimonies and interviews by the thousands who have been able to get back to peaceful life in eastern Aleppo,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry also described a report by Human Rights Watch on the Syrian army’s purported use of chemical weapons in Aleppo as unprofessional, saying the allegation serves to defame the organization.
