The head of the Interim Government Ahmed Tomeh met with members of the Syria Support Group Wednesday, stressing the importance of activating the role of civil society organizations and local councils in Syria.
Tomeh described the role of civic society groups as a "strategic arm" of the new government in the economic and social development, cultural and political arenas.
Tomeh said he believed they can make a real contribution to development if they succeed in building an awareness of development, stability and employment through real and effective participation in the development process.
Tomeh's comments came during a meeting to review the camp model based in Bab al-Hawa border crossing, which accommodates nearly 4,000displaced people, in addition to the camp currently being established in the north of Syria as a residential model with a capacity of 10,000 people.
The camp will be equipped with all services and logistical support, including medical, education and development.
On his part, the Director of Projects with the Syria Support group, engineer Omar Khater said that the camp is the first of its kind to be established inside Syrian borders, pointing out that the camp "is characterized by its structural resistance and ability to withstand all weather conditions, which enables the displaced people to stay longer."
