Syrian opposition defense minister Asaad Mustafa resigned from his post Monday after alleged disagreements with other members of the leadership, according to Al Arabiya News and Reuters Monday.
A Coalition source told Reuters that Syrian opposition National Coalition president Ahmad Jarba "refused" to appoint Mustafa as the provisional prime minister leading to the latter's resignation, but other rebel sources close to Mustafa said that the defense leader resigned in protest of the "lack of funds for his fighters."
Mustafa was appointed to serve as the opposition-in-exile's top defense advisor in November 2013.
This latest resignation highlights the growing rifts within the opposition movement over the past months.
Jarba, who was re-elected to serve as president of the coalition last year, will end his current term in June.
