Syria, Lebanon Discuss Counter-Terrorism Cooperation

Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil met with Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul-Kareem in Beirut on Monday to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations between the two countries.

“The meeting comes in the framework of regular consultation and coordination between Syria and Lebanon, particularly in the existence of a lot of mounting challenges to confront terrorism which poses [a] threat to the two countries,” Abdul-Kareem told reporters following the talks.

The Syrian ambassador said that fighting terrorism will require the full coordination of the two governments and militaries to successfully defeat it, adding “there are still big challenges in the field of fighting terrorism.”
