Sabra: Confidence in Our Aims Before Geneva II

The President of the Syrian National Council, George Sabra, called to implement confidence-building measures ahead of the Geneva II conference, pointing out that the Syrian National Coalition “supports solutions that meet the aspirations of the Syrian people, and not those which aim to reconcile with the regime of Bashar Assad."

Sabra said in an interview with Al Jazeera website that dialogue will take place if the siege of cities is ended, and if the safe routes are established for humanitarian relief to all areas and political prisoners are released, along with the presence of international guarantees for the implementation of the outcome of the conference, through the issuance of resolutions of the Security Council under Chapter VII.

Sabra expressed his hope that the conference will result in the formation of a transitional government with full powers, including the functions of the presidency in accordance with a specific timetable, so that  "the regime does not leave an opportunity to continue the killings."

Sabra emphasized the need for the presence of the Free Syrian Army and the forces of the revolution at the negotiating table, not through political sidelines, but through the will of these battalions.

"These are partners in decision-making and draw the picture of Syria's future," he said.
