Regime Repels ISIS Attack on Suweida’s Khalkhala Airport

The southern province of Suweida witnessed bloody fighting against the backdrop of an ISIS attack on the regime-held Khalkhala military airport.


Regime forces managed to repel the attack on the military airport, considered Suweida’s foremost military base, after battles resulted in the death of 35 fighters from both sides.


The regime intensified shelling and air raids along on the disputed areas resulting in the deaths of at least 20 ISIS fighters.


The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed the attack occurred the day before yesterday in the vicinity of Khalkhala airport in the countryside of Suweida.


Opposition activists said 12 fighters of the pro-regime Palestinian Liberation Army were killed in the battles.


The airport is located near the main road linking Damascus with Suweida, both under regime control.
